
Marc Stauch
Marc is a solicitor, who brings expertise in medical law and bioethics as well as practical experience in the field of data protection.
Marc has a background in English and German academia. Originally from the UK, he studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oxford before completing his legal training in London and Manchester and qualifying as a solicitor.
He worked for several years as a law lecturer, first at Nottingham Trent University and then at the University of Leicester. In 2003, he moved to Germany to take up a post at Humboldt University of Berlin, while completing his doctorate at the University of Göttingen. His doctoral research compared medical malpractice liability regimes in England and Germany.
Marc subsequently worked as a research associate at Leibniz Universität Hannover, with a particular focus on data protection in the context of EU bioinformatics projects. He has published widely in the fields of medical law and tort law and is the author of The Law of Medical Negligence in England and Germany: A Comparative Analysis (Hart Publishing, 2008). He is also co‑author (with K. Wheat) of Text, Cases and Materials on Medical Law and Ethics (Routledge), now in its sixth edition.
